Candida Miranda, Indian born in October 1977, raised in Dubai as a 3rd generation expatriate in the United Arab Emirates.
After a successful career spanning almost 16+ years in some of the world’s largest Private Wealth and Investment banking institutions, Candida left her corporate career for a deeper calling and pursued her dream to be recognized as an International Visual illustrator.
Candida is a modernist artist creating work in the form of abstract, mixed media pieces - a style which brings her freedom and expressiveness.
The paintings are a manifestation of her thoughts and emotions, inspired by experiences and depictions of the natural world.
Her journey with abstractions came very early years of High School having taken Fine Arts as a subject and she always enjoyed the freedom of being able to express through color and design.
The style of the artwork uses texture to highlight the impressions and affect the way light interacts with the surface of their images whilst allowing the layers to create shadows and highlights. Texture is one of the most fundamental elements of three-dimensional art and is a medium in which she resonates most truthfully.
The elements of design, color and texture unleash a sense of calmness and offer a multi-sensory experience due to the raw emotion depicted through color, and the visual and physical depth of the texture.
Raised in Dubai, Candida has deep roots in this modern, vibrant city, which has served as an essential platform for her early success. A signature piece “Ocean Blues“ from the Values series captures the strong currents of the ocean in shades of turquoise and phthalo greens was appreciated by many private collectors and institutions also includes Lombard Odier and other financial institutions’ art houses internationally.
But the real turning point in her art career began in 2018 with The Art Gap project hosted by Standard Chartered UAE in Dubai – an exhibition that featured 19 female renowned artists from the Middle East, making a statement through art the pay gap issues that female artists continue to face in the modern world.
Candida’s ‘Fragmentos de Amor’, created for the Art Gap, was set centerstage at World Art Dubai that same year and sold almost instantaneously to a seasoned art collector from the Middle East and featured thereafter for a limited period at the prestigious Gate Avenue at the heart of the iconic Dubai International Financial Centre.
Candida’s artwork is a manifestation of her own evolution and that of the art world. In recent months, she has begun exploring the sphere of digital art and the mechanics of NFTs. Her work will continue in the pursuit of passion, self-discovery and transformation.
